OUR FOUNDER AND VALUES

BMW FOUNDER

Our founder is a sensible and empathetic bilingual mental health professional. She believes that possessing knowledge of the scientific part of psychology and intervention techniques is essential but only makes sense when you have the art to stimulate idiographic changes in those around you. A well-tuned mind is more effective than medication! She earned and held a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology with Distinction from the Caribbean Center for Advanced Studies Institute of Psychology in Puerto Rico. This doctor in psychology has a two-year post-doctoral certification in Ericksonian Hypnosis techniques. She works with depression, anxiety, and family issues using cognitive behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, psychoeducation strategies, and mindfulness techniques. When situations are challenging to change or reach and cannot improve with traditional psychotherapy interventions, she uses hypnosis as a treatment tool. Since 1998 at her private practice in Puerto Rico for 21 years, she has been in the clinical psychology field. This psychologist provided outpatient and group therapy to children, teenagers, adults, senior adults, couples, and families. She has worked with a variety of issues including, but not limited to: suicidal teens, severe and chronic mental illness, self-harm, ADHD, anger management, low self-esteem, anxiety disorder, PTSD, debriefing, depression disorder, grief & stress management, marital situations, elderly mental health, and family issues. These experiences allowed her to bring psychotherapy in retirement homes, homes, schools, foster homes, and in-office. Additionally, she has educated faculty members in techniques and strategies to teach students with different learning disabilities and attitude issues. Since 1997 she has been treating severe mental illness clients through hypnosis. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses of Psychological Testing Design and Construction, Neurophysiology, Life Span Cycle, Psychology, Human Development, and Introduction to Social Sciences. She has also supervised clinical psychology interns practicing at her private office. She has taught and supervised graduate student interns in their practicum and internship courses that prepare them for the real world as psychologists. This licensed clinical psychologist relocated to Florida recently, after hurricane Maria affected her private practice and devastated Puerto Rico. She has provided services as a Clinical Psychologist for Head Starts, Teens Psychiatric Emergency Rooms, and as a Forensic Psychologist in Court addressing custody assessments. During the last 13 years, she studied and researched the relation between nutrition, active lifestyle, and behavior wellness.
